2015 National Sport Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition recently took
place on July 6-9 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The theme of the
conference was “Enhancing Tomorrow TODAY” and the event addressed on issues
with providing proper security for sporting events.
Office of Homeland Security’s Executive Director, Rusty Barnes, opened the
conference speaking about the partnership the office has undertaken with NCS4
and the University of Southern Mississippi to ensure that sporting events in
Mississippi receive the best security measures available.
of the conference gained valuable insight on unmanned aircraft systems, the
impact of civil unrest at sporting venues, as well real world cases involving
alcohol abuse, fighting, and personal injury. Lastly, the launch of the “Safety and
Security Best Practices” which focuses on high schools, marathons, and colleges
across the country was finalized and is available on the NCS4 website under
the “Who We Serve” section.
