"The money attained through the federal grants is used to aid in the training of emergency first responders, purchasing state of the art equipment for combating and preventing terrorist acts, planning, exercises, and funding for management, administration and the development of citizen corps projects at local levels. This year, the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security allocated the available funds to each of the eighty-two counties in the state based on population, critical infrastructure and other important factors."
