How do I apply?
This year, for the first time, the application process will be completely digital! The application can be found here: https://www.homelandsecurity.ms.gov/grants/grant-forms. Applications for FY 2021 State Homeland Security Grants will be accepted from 8:00 a.m. June 2nd through 11:59 p.m. on July 16th. Please email completed applications for firstname.lastname@example.org.
When can I start spending the grant money?
The sub-recipient will receive an e-mail notification from our office once the grant packet is reviewed and all documentation have been submitted correctly.
Under the equipment expenditures, are rain suits allowed as part of the Personal Protection Equipment?
Unfortunately, rain suits are not an allowable cost under the equipment categories.
Can I get an advance in my funding?
Yes. The request will have to be in writing on agency letterhead along with the purchase order. Also, all reports have to be current. Only one advance/request is allowed per month.
Can we combine grants from different grant years?
No, all grant years and grants in general (SHSGP, LETPP,CCP) are separate.
Who is the grant administrator?
The person designated by the "Elected Official."
Can we go over our allocated award amount?
The sub-recipient will only be reimbursed for funds equal or below their awarded amount. Any additional costs will not be covered.
Can I buy items not on the authorized equipment list?
In some cases. However, please contact Homeland Security or send in equipment list prior to committing your funds.
We have been awarded our funds, but would like to make changes to our equipment list. Can we?
Yes. Send in a revised Budget Equipment Detail Worksheet for our office to review.
After approval, how long does it take to get our awards letter?
About 14-20 calendar days.
How long do I have to spend the money?
Refer to your award letter grant period end date.
What is the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number and title?
The CFDA number is 97.067 and the CFDA title is "Homeland Security Grant Program."
